Day 17 - The Long River And A Fire

Morning was here again and it was time for me to set off on the day's travels.
A lot of the first half of the day was taken up with the tracking of a long, winding river through mostly desert terrain with the occasion glimpse of greenery.
Keeping track of my progress by placing the block/torch combination was eating through my stone supplies quickly and as I left the sand behind and moved into more lush surroundings I was down to my last 12 blocks.
In this area there were a few unusual sights to be seen. Firstly, a mushroom in a tree:
This was followed shortly by a strange piece of floating water:
And then I saw some floating items that indicated someone had recently harvested them. Was the pig the guilty party?
My stone supplies ran out entirely and, as the sun was already low in the sky, I decided to make camp for the night and dig out more. As darkness took hold, I noticed a glimmer in the trees on the opposite bank. It looked like something might be burning over there. Risking my life, as it was now quite dark, I swam over to take a look.
Indeed, the trees over there were burning - it looked to have been caused by a stray spark from a nearby lava pool. Meanwhile it was now properly dark, so I raced back to my hole in the hillside. A few skeletons twanged their bows in my general direction and gathered outside my door as I breathed a sigh of relief safe inside.
I dug out a new stack of stone blocks and slept the rest of the night.
